Attention women of the world

March 21, 2008

In case you were not already aware, I (and all my male brethren) am clueless. I fully admit it. And if you want proof, I have it.

(credit goes to Peter for pointing this gem out to me)

The ladies really have to put up with so much more than men do. Just another on the long list of reasons why I am thankful to be a male. I should really start writing them down.

Point of interest: the United Nations is morally worthless

March 11, 2008

And here is just one example why this is true.

For those who don’t know, Israel is barred from serving on the Security Council because the Arab nations would go ape-s___ over it. Yet Libya is able to block a resolution condemning one of the most heinous crimes committed so far this year.

This type of thing leads me to consider the UN to be the most ridiculous organization on the face of the Earth. It is a farce, and it would be funny if it were not so tragic.

Indiana Jones poster- coooooooooooool!

March 10, 2008

Yeah, Harrison Ford may be older than Lexington limestone, but this poster is so flippin’ cool it actually brings my hopes way up for this movie.  I really really hope it’s good.

More on Amy Adams

March 8, 2008

This blog seems to get more hits from search engines based on the query “Amy Adams” than pretty much any other subject. Yet there is only 1 post devoted to her! A real tragedy.

I thought I’d do my duty as an Adams devotee and let everyone know that she’ll be on Saturday Night Live tonight.

While we’re on the subject- I went and saw Enchanted with my little brother a few months back,  and I have to say, it was not terrible. Even entertaining, and borderline charming. The best thing about the movie, of course, was Ms Adams cavorting around in the beautiful wardrobe which her character made each morning before breakfast (out of curtains).

I also just realized that she guest starred on The Office in the final episode of the first season as the, appropriately, “Hot Girl”.

More updates as events warrant.

Weather Channel founder says global warming is crap

March 4, 2008

I honestly am not sure which of the following statements are true:

1) Global warming (or more specifically, global climate change) is not happening at all, period, end of story.  Much like the heterosexual AIDS scare of the 80s/90s, it is simply a fabrication of the media and 20 years from now, we’ll be thinking “Whatever happened to the whole global warming thing?”

2) Global climate change IS happening, but it is natural. It is overwhelmingly due to the activity of the sun or other natural phenomena with a microscopic man caused portion, and even if we stopped all carbon related activity whatsoever, there is essentially nothing man can do about it. (Even if this one is true, it doesn’t mean global warming is necessarily a bad thing. There are many reasons to think that global warming would actually be a net benefit for mankind.)

3)  Climate change is happening, it is caused by man, but we shouldn’t do anything about it because it’s either not going to be catastrophic, or at the very least not worth the cost because the benefits of energy use outweigh the costs of rolling back carbon emissions. This is the view of one gentleman of whom I am a big fan, Bjorn Lomborg. (click the link! it’s good!)

I am certain, however, that the following is false:

4) Global warming is happening, it will be catastrophic, it is man’s fault, and we must act to stop it now no matter the cost.

The last statement seems to be the point of view of the most of the world nowadays. It certainly seems to be the view espoused at UK- at least in my Geography 160 class (Dr. PP Karan).

However, the founder of The Weather Channel John Coleman seems to think #1 is true, and he is talking about suing over it.

Can I just ask: if the guy that founded TWC is not convinced global climate change is happening, should you be?

Hillary’s personal D-Day

March 3, 2008

Just to be clear before Super Dooper Yooper Wooper Tuesday, Part Deux tomorrow.

I still think that Hillary will win the nomination, although Obama has done a much better job of bloodying her nose than I ever thought possible.

I know pretty much everyone else would disagree, and that it’s not looking good for her.

However, I stand by my prediction; whether because of the Rush Limbaugh effect (Republicans in Texas and Ohio voting for her tomorrow) or because of the hopeless corruption of the Clintons, or some other unforeseen eventuality, I cannot say exactly. I just have a feeling that she’ll pull it off.

That is all.
