Paris Hilton continues to be her narcissistic self. Not that I care- she can do (and does!) what she likes; however this newly released video response to the John McCain ad is somewhat entertaining, if not a little predictable.
I think it’s interesting to point out that her ‘economic proposal’ which she touts as a combination of Obama and McCain’s proposals is actually a lot closer to what McCain has been saying all along. She paints McCain’s position as drill drill drill, and Obama’s as alternatives alternatives alternatives. This is a gross oversimplification, especially for McCain who is on record as advocating such things as investment in better battery technology for electric and hybrid cars. Not only that, but Obama is also softening on offshore drilling lately (he has to- the country is overwhelmingly in favor of it).
It is obvious that this video is less about the presidential candidates and more about Paris herself. Paris is more concerned about her tan than the subject at hand, and taunts “I’ll see you at the debates, bitches,” “I’m hot,” etc etc. I was tempted at first, after seeing this video, to adjust my perception of Paris in a positive way; however, the second time through I was so sickened by the blatancy of her narcissism that any message she may have genuinely be trying to communicate (it’s possible!) is lost on me. This video is little more than a badly needed post-prison pr ploy.
That being said, I expect that many people may be ready to cast their vote for Hilton after seeing this clip. May I suggest that anyone inclined to do so make an attempt to ignore the tired “McCAIN IS OLD!” ridiculousness, take a look at his actual stance on energy policy, and vote appropriately.
