Another reason to vote for McCain: economy.
Look: both candidates’ tax and spending plans are a disaster. Both of them make me very depressed. McCain’s plan will increase the deficit more than Obama’s, and Obama’s will send us into a recession by slamming the breaks on business growth, which affects everyone.
Why vote for McCain then? Because he will be dealing with a Democratically controlled legislature, and won’t be able to get anything he wants done on the tax front, anyway. You can’t ruin the economy if your plan isn’t enacted.
Obama’s party, on the other hand, will have a bicameral majority, and he will be able to pass all the spending and tax increases he wants to pass. His threat of disaster is a much more real one.
I know it’s a depressing prospect- ‘vote for McCain so no tax changes can be made’- but that’s the world we live in. But there is a little more.
One thing McCain does promise to do is to take on wasteful spending. Now it’s true that the details of this promise are sketchy, but as president, something tells me that unlike President Bush, McCain is a person who will not be afraid of the veto pen. When has Obama ever stood up to his own party on anything?
Just some food for thought.
